I picked up this @cottonandsteel canvas remnant at the annual spring sale at @gather_here. I’ve been holding onto it not quite knowing the right project for it, but I’ve decided I am going to make it into a #goanywherebag by @noodlehead531 I usually just carry totes around, but I think it might be time for a real bag.
There is a ton of fussy work that goes into making these quilts. Laying out the blocks and tons of pinning, ironing seams flat, and organizing. I will also say that learning to chain piece was a huge game changer. I personally find all of it very relaxing. I will also say that I’m really pining for the release of @rubystarsociety ‘s new ironing board covers. Mine is a million years old, burnt, and not very exciting. Since I saw their new covers come out I’m overly aware of how old and burnt mine is. Come on October!! •
#meadowlandquilt for @horikei617
#meadowlandquilt for @horikei617 3 blocks completed, 2 on deck, 7 in waiting. I could not be more in love with the fabrics.
This weekend, my work is all about @horikei617 !! I’m working on a dino inspired #meadowlandquilt for his new sweet babe, and I thought I had at least until this coming week, but the babe beat me!! He gave me the inspiration and I found some of the most gorgeous, soft, dreamy fabric at @gather_here and what amused me is that I didn’t realize a lot of them are a bit Japanese inspired and printed in Japan which is where Rueben’s art inspiration comes from. I love it when styles overlap like that. Stay tuned for more shares of these Meadowland blocks. I really can’t get enough of that pattern.
I made my first #wikstensmock tonight. Out of all the sewing projects I’ve been up to lately this one put me through the wringer. I have to say I was less than thrilled with the written directions and if I’d never installed a sleeve before I might have burned the damn thing. To top that off, I think it’s going to be too big and that she might not love it. I also think that Clem is going to flip a shit because I’ve only made one. Wish me luck!!
44 geese down. Like a million more to go. #jawbreakerquilt
Flying geese in process for my #jawbreakerquilt
A new pouch for all my pens and now I can say that I’ve installed a zipper and that I do not care for the process. 😂
The little guy took a scary tumble today. He fell out of the car when I opened the door and hit the corner of the curb. I’m not usually an alarmist about falls, but the way he hit and seeing his neck get wrenched, the height, and the fact that it was right in the temple bought him an ambulance ride. Handing your baby off to emts and having to watch him get taken away was pretty horrible. •
They observed him and sent him home.. he gets to sleep with us tonight.
I did some “test geese” for the #jawbreakerquilt by @thencamejune that has been staring me down all open Studios season. All of those colored squares to the side will be part of this quilt. Now that SOS is over I’m going to work on some personal projects including some more clothes for myself for #memademay2019 •
I find the cutting of squares and strips for quilts to be very relaxing, so that was my starting point for hopping back into studio and my own personal groove. Lots of new things coming. Stay tuned.
